Evil means that the negative potential has become manifest. The positive remains dormant. Those people who actually love hatred, who deliberately always practice anger, hatred — that’s evil
The Dalai Lama
Music has so much power that it can free your ego. Through kirtan you can reach the highest pinnacle of spiritual experience. Not by yoga or by any other means but by kirtan alone can you have the vision of the Divine.
Swami Satyananda Saraswati
The discovery of the source is the spiritual journey. This is how the idea of spirituality developed. This is the definition of spirituality – connection with the source.

The more you think about your own self, the more self-centred you are, the more trouble even small problems can create in your mind. The stronger your sense of ‘I’, the narrower the scope of your thinking becomes; then even small obstacles become unbearable. On the other hand, if you concern yourself mainly with others, the broader your thinking becomes, and life’s inevitable difficulties disturb you less.
The Dalai Lama
Practise 10 minutes of meditation every night before going to sleep. This is an effort you should make for the sake of your own sanity and peace. Allot 23 hours and 50 minutes to your society, family, profession, the world, and 10 minutes for your peace, benefit, tranquillity and sense of well-being. For these 10 minutes, sit down quietly and develop a thought or idea in the mind: “For these 10 minutes I am not this body, nor the experience of comfort and discomfort associated with the body. I am not the mind, nor the experience of pleasure and pain that arise in the mind.” Try to create total disidentification, total disconnection from the physical and the mental experiences. Now, if you are not the body, if you are not the mind, then what are you? Just yourself, nothing more. And in that experience of yourself, experience the space, the stability, the silence inside.

Accept yoga in your daily life. Yoga is a way of life, a culture of tomorrow. It is not necessary to go to a temple or meditate on your deity, but wherever and whatever you perceive, perceive with sublime equanimity.

My name, Satyananda, is composed of two words, Satya, or the unchanging,
and ananda or the ecstatic mood, ecstatic life or unchanging bliss. And swami means one who is master of himself. Therefore, my name, Swami
Satyananda, is a universal name, it is everyone’s name.

Mata Goddess’s seventh form is “Mata Kaalratri”. Her complexion is as dark as the night. Her cascading hair is let loose and she is seen wearing a garland that radiates light as bright as lightning. Mata Kaalratri is fearsome with her menacing three eyes, radiating fire. Mata Kaalratri is mounted on an ass. She has four hands, of which, the top right hand is in a gesture of rendering boon to all. The other hand on her right is rendering fearlessness. The top left hand is holding an iron dagger and the other hand is holding a sickle. Although she has a menacing appearance, Mata Kaalratri always delivers favorable results and her devotees need not fear her manifestations is holding an iron dagger and the other hand is holding a sickle. Although she has a menacing appearance, Mata Kaalratri always delivers favorable results and her devotees need not fear her manifestations. Mata Kaalratri is worshiped on the seventh day of the Durga puja. Mata Kaalratri destroys evil. If anyone whole-heartedly pleads of saving him from any impending danger, she protects him. As and when the Goddess is called, the evils instantaneously disappear. By the Goddess’s grace, devotees overcome fear of fire, water, animals and foes.

In spiritual life also, a Guru is necessary because it is an area of life in which we need to establish ourselves. If, with the help of the external Guru, you are able to awaken your internal Guru, then the work of the external Guru is finished. From that moment the internal Guru takes over and guides you. This internal Guru is intuitive power and common sense”.

Keep the flame of aspiration ever kindled. Let your sadhana always be regular, continuous, unbroken and earnest. All growth is gradual. Have unshakable faith. Strive to stay close to the divine centre. Give your whole heart to sadhana. Strive to realise the Divine. This is the purpose of human birth. Strive incessantly… to realise it.
Swami Sivananda
Faith and surrender are the opposites of doubt and fear.
